The upright that feels like a grand piano

Every pianist dreams of a grand piano – but not every room allows for one. The Kawai K-800 AS closes that gap: as the flagship of the K-Series, it combines a grand-style cabinet shape, a large music desk and a genuine sostenuto pedal to deliver a playing feel close to that of a small grand. For demanding pianists, it is one of the most convincing alternatives to a grand piano.

Millennium III action for outstanding precision

At the heart of the K-800 AS is the Millennium III action with ABS-Carbon parts: lightweight, extremely stable and highly resistant to temperature and humidity changes. The 88 keys with NEOTEX covering (ivory/ebony-look) provide secure grip and a pleasant feel even during long practice sessions. Mahogany hammer cores keep weight low while ensuring high stability – the basis for differentiated, dynamic touch control.

A tone as rich as a grand piano

A tapered solid spruce soundboard with a surface of 1.53 m² and 12 ribs delivers an exceptionally full tonal spread. The double duplex scale excites additional harmonic overtones, while agraffes on keys 1 to 51 ensure a consistently defined string length. With the genuine sostenuto pedal – normally found only on grand pianos – individual notes can be sustained selectively while the rest of the piano remains free.

Your benefits at a glance:

• Grand piano feel: Cabinet shape, music desk and genuine sostenuto pedal like a small grand.
• Precise touch control: Millennium III action with ABS-Carbon parts and mahogany hammer cores.
• Full, carrying tone: Large solid-spruce soundboard and double duplex scale.
• Everyday comfort: Slow-closing fallboard, integrated lock and double castors.
• A lasting investment: 5-year Kawai manufacturer warranty on an instrument built for generations.
