At the heart of the Yamaha FS400 Natural Satin is its ergonomic Concert body shape. Compared to a bulky dreadnought, the body is noticeably more compact and slimmer at the waist, so the guitar sits comfortably against the body whether you are sitting or standing. It is a great match for smaller players, younger beginners, and experienced fingerstyle guitarists who appreciate a focused, clear tone.

Outstanding playing comfort thanks to the short scale

With a scale length of 634 mm (short scale), string tension is noticeably lower than on standard folk guitars. The strings press down more easily, which is a real benefit when learning first chords and during long practice sessions. The slim 43 mm nut width adds to the compact, comfortable feel across all 20 frets of the rosewood fingerboard.

A reduced design for unrestricted resonance

The spruce top delivers a clear attack and excellent string separation, while the tonewood back and sides provide a solid foundation. Yamaha deliberately leaves off the pickguard and fingerboard binding on the FS400, letting the wood grain show through the satin-matte Natural Satin finish and allowing the wood to resonate more freely. A rosewood bridge and fingerboard, together with a urea nut and saddle, round out the thoughtful choice of materials.
