The action developed exclusively for the NU1XA transfers every subtle key movement to the hammer, just like an acoustic piano. The Articulation Sensor System plays a key role here: non-contact, electromagnetic-inductive sensors on both hammer and key continuously capture every nuance of your playing, even during trills or rapid note repetition.

The sound of the CFX and the Bösendorfer Imperial

At its core, the NU1XA delivers binaurally sampled voices from the Yamaha CFX concert grand and the Bösendorfer Imperial, two of the world's most acclaimed grand pianos. Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) recreates the intricate resonances of strings and soundboard, keeping the tone alive even when multiple notes are held together.

GrandTouch pedals and room-filling sound

The three GrandTouch pedals (damper with half-pedal effect, sostenuto, soft) reproduce the characteristic resistance of a grand piano pedal. The speaker system, with upward-facing woofers and horn-loaded tweeters, projects sound three-dimensionally around the instrument rather than simply out of it.
